The 1320 nm wavelength has become physicians' " must have " for skin rejuvenation due to its high scattering coefficient and ability to precisely stimulate fibroblasts at the dermal-epidermal junction (DEJ).* The 1320 nm wavelength provides deeper penetration into the papillary dermis for superior skin rejuvenation results. Multiple studies have shown significant laser induced neocollagenesis in skin treated with this wavelength as a result of the following factors: The emitted light energy scatters throughout the treated upper layers of the dermis. The resulting thermal injury triggers damage to the blood vessels in the papillary dermis and a cascade of events leading to-Stimulation of fibroblasts at the DEJ responsible for collagen remodeling and tightening.
- Remodeling of dermal collagen
- Clinical improvement of rhytides
- Improvement of acne scars
In addition to the extraordinary capabilities of the 1320 nm wavelength for dermal remodeling, the 1064 nm wavelength has also been found to stimulate the production of collagen. This makes the SkinClear SRVH an excellent complement to ablative therapies as well as other non-ablative treatments.
- By using low fluences and a short pulse duration, it is possible to target the small blood vessels that cause diffuse erythema and stimulate the production of fibroblasts.
- By applying short burst of light energy in a repetitive fashion, it is possible to gradually heat the upper dermis to further stimulate dermal remodeling and new collagen production.
The unique depth of penetration of the laser beam at the 1320 nm wavelength and pulse duration specified, limit the heated region to a uniform layer just beneath the DEJ. This results in increased rete peg (dermal papillae or dermal pegs) formation, which plays a critical role in tissue repair and the structural integrity of the skin.
The 1320 nm wavelength of SkinClear SRVH also provides optimal thermal effects for heating sebaceous glands in the facial area, and is therefore useful for the treatment of acne. The proper dosage of thermal energy can partially " shrink " the sebaceous glands and reduce sebum production.
