3. Proprietary Passive Saturable Absorber Q-Switch: SkinClear utilizes a new, proprietary, non-mechanical organic passive crystal method of "Q"-switching in which a special solid-state crystal called a saturable absorber selectively absorbs (collects) and stores the desired 1064 nm wavelength photons and quickly releases the photons to produce the desired short laser pulses with highest maximum peak power. SkinClear's proprietary organic crystal is highly absorptive at low light intensities and becomes "bleached" when fully-saturated as the light intensifies. The SkinClear Method:

Through a process known as selective photothermolysis, SkinClear selectively targets and destroys tattoo pigments while leaving surrounding tissues unharmed and intact. The "Q"-switched technology used by the SkinClear System makes it highly effective and safe for the treatment of tattoos and benign pigmented lesions. The mechanism of action of the "Q"-switched technology consists of photoacoustic waves generated in the skin by the released photons of light. Phagocytosis is the process induced by the SkinClear laser resulting in the engulfment and destruction of extracellularly-derived materials by cells, such as macrophages and neutrophils. The body is then able to naturally eliminate the resulting smaller tattoo ink particles. Tattoo Removal

During the process of tattooing, tattoo pigment ("ink") is driven into the skin and deposited within the skin's dermal layer.
